WESTGATE HILLS CAL RIPKEN BASEBALL & ASA SOFTBALL

Westgate Hills is hosting the Pennsylvania Cal Ripken 8 Year Old State Tournament, July 12th - July 18th.
BYC, Central Perk, Douglassville, East Brandywine, Hilltop, Springford, Towemencin, Warrington, and Westgate Hills.
Opening ceremony will begin at 8:30 AM on Saturday, July 12th. Teams are to report by 8:00 AM. Game times are 9:30, 11:30, 1:30, 5:30 and 7:30. Good luck to all participants.
Come out and support your team! Food provided by the Boulevard Bar & Grille, Music, Moon Bounce, 50/50 Drawings & more.

8 Year Old State Tournament Team
The Westgate Tigers defeated the Westgate Cardinals in a playoff thriller to take the 2008 Westgate Majors Championship! The Tigers jumped out to an early 5-1 lead behind the hitting of Matt Dougherty, Tommy Davis, Jim Sharkey, Steve McCrossin, and Chris Fusaro. Michael Ward chipped in a sacrifice bunt that scored a run. Thomas Carey ignited a comback in the 4th inning with a home run that led the Cardinals to take a 7-5 lead. The Tigers Kevin Leyden responded with a home run in the bottom of the 5th. Singles by Dougherty and Sharkey helped the Tigers regain the lead 8-7. The Cardinals refused to go down without a fight. In the top of the 6th, Pat McCallum singled and Thomas Carey flied out to the fence in deep center. Tommy Davis struck out the last two batters to seal the victory and the championship for the Tigers.
